How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

I am a single father.

Let her have a friend spend the night. Make a point of showing your daughter how nice the friend's hair and teeth look. Instruct the girls, at the appropriate time, when it is time for them to get ready for bed. Make a point of asking the friend who her dentist is and if she likes taking care of herself.

Sometimes a little bit of peer pressure can do the trick.

Good luck.

tell her she will never go anywhere again

Doesn't she want to brush them or doesn't she know how?

If she doesn't want to, show her pictures of people with bad teeth and hair... should help...

If she doesn't know how, show, repeat.

You have to set the example and make a routine out of it.

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

tell her if she wont then the monster will come and get her lol

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

show her how to brush her hair and teeth or take her to a hair salon and have it cut and then to the dentist and have them show her what her teeth will look like

Do it just like any stern mother would, though it may hurt her feelings because it's coming from a BOY (ewwwwwwww):

NO! You need to get in there and brush your hair right now! You are not a little orphan child; you are a pretty little girl, and you should take care of yourself like pretty little girls do. You're not leaving this house lookin all raggedy, but you ARE going to school. If you want to go to school yucky, then go, but you're grounded this afternoon. Why? A)because you need to do what you're told, and B)because it's not nice if you don't take care of yourself, and you're not going to neglect your appearance and hygiene in this house. (Obviously, you'll need to explain hygiene and/or appearance)

Same concept for brushing the teeth. Include bad breath, rotting teeth, and general overall yuck.

OR you can take the kind, gentle approach, and let her sit with you while you brush her hair very gently...kind of like a beautifying, bonding routine. But you shouldn't have to do it ALL the time. She's old enough to do it herself, and is probably just being stubborn. If she doesn't care at all about her appearance at 10, you may look into some deeper issues. Seriously.

OR you can just haul her into the bathroom with you, and make a day of it. She does her hair while you shave, you both brush your teeth, then compare smiles, etc.

If she's really not willing to cooperate, ground her if you have to. Personal hygiene should be taken very seriously, especially for girls, and moreso for girls who are "this close" to becoming teenagers. As I said, if she's absolutely adamant about not doing it, you may have a problem with some deeper issues %26amp; haul her off to a therapist, though that will be no fun at all for either of you. If that's the case, we're going to have to work on some father-daughter bonding.

If you're a part-time single father, I'd discuss the issue with the mother %26amp; figure out what it would take to fix it on both ends. If all else fails, call grandma, or enlist the help of a female friend or neighbor, as someone to hang out %26amp; talk......bond.....girl thing. She's gonna need a woman soon, anyway. THAT TIME is just around the corner, you know.

I also agree with the pictures of nasty teeth %26amp; hair. If you want to go that route, I'd try it first %26amp; see how it goes, then put your foot down if you have to.

private questions to you,why are you a single dad? where is mom? is she thinking if mom were her she would ...(trying to make you bring mom home if possible)i would take her to a DDS for a general exam,he will no she is not having good oral health habits and talk with her(don't do this to demean her,you want to know if she has cavities,...maybe her hair is too long or she does not know how to style, possibly ask entrusted F friend to make a "beauty day" with her,go to salon ask for easy can do yourself cut/style( not a baby cut)the stylist will show her how to blow dry,brush,curl,.... tell daughter she earned mini make-over,new cut/style,trip to DDS (maybe a new pair of jeans or great shirt to match the new DD) robin

You explain to her calmly how to brush her hair and teeth. Also, you can buy toothbrushes, toothpaste, and even hairbrushes of her favorite TV cartoon character on them. Praise her! Tell her about the good job she is doing by brushing her hair and teeth. If you don't know how to do a little girls hair, take her to a salon or ask a female friend to show you how to properly brush your daughter's hair.

Do it with her. Same time, same place, every day. Children learn by example and do better when they know what is expected of them. My son loves to brush his teeth with mommy and daddy every morning before daddy goes to work and every evening after bath time.

Also, take her to the store and let her pick a toothbrush, toothpaste, hair clips, etc that she likes.

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

show her what can happen if she dosent brush her teeth and hair

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

I used to live with my dad half the time when I was like, 7 until I was 14, and I moved in this ummer with him. Its really difficult because she dosent have a female role model there. So just tell her, go brush those teeth now. She says no? you tell her, So you REALLY wanna have dragon breath????? why?!?!?!? Try buying her a pretty toothbrush and a flavor of toothpaste she likes. Make sure she picks out both of the, And then you should take her on a special occasion to get her hair done at a salon. Shewill see all the pretty hair and like it most likely. Buy her a whole bunch of pretty hair things, sparkly hair baretts, pretty ponytail holders, again let her pick some of them out. Try sending her with an older girl she looks up to to go and get hair stuff. Help her brush her hair in the morning and before she goes to bed,, it will soon become a habit.

Dont worry, this will get easier!!!!

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

She doesn't know or she doesn't like.

If she doesn't know, its your fault. U may have been a single male parent but that doesn't mean u don't have 2 teach your child how to brush her teeth and her hair.

If she doesn't like. Tell her that if she gets older her teeth could start to decay and with her hair if she has long hair tell her if it becomes really tangled u might have to cut of the whole lot. (Feel free to exaggerate.)

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

ha ha, my uncle used to tease me about my hair, and said well, if you're not going to take care of it, i'll just shave your head... i went and brushed my damn hair lol

and with her teeth, take her to the dentist, and let him show her what will happen from not brushing her pearls. it might just scare her enough into doing these things.

and if she doesn't do them still, pick on her about them.

if she wants a kiss, tell her no, cause her breath stinks, so on and so forth.

good luck!!!

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

u should get her a really cute toothbrush and her own litle toothpaste so she'll want to use them. same w/ a brush. u should show her how to use them if she doesn't know how.

then you should show her how pretty and all she looks after it's done or something you know. so ya, good luck! have fun.

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

Punish her if she doesn't do these things. Make sure you see her do them and make sure she knows that you have to do these things to be socially acceptable. Is she doing it to get attention maybe? Talk to her to see if something is going on.

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

a reward chart,give her stickers each time she does,and when she gets so many stickers she picks out a prize, or going to mcdoanlds are something.{make it fun, make a game of it}

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

u tell that u'll gift her for that

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

teach her all you know about good hygeine! if that doesnt work - tell her her teeth will fall out

How can I get my 10 yr old daughter to brush her hair and teeth?

Show her an ugly picture of dental cavities. Tell her pretty young ladies keep their teeth clean and shining by brushing them. Tell her NO ONE wants to be around someone who has bad breath and she will have bad breath unless she brushes her teeth!
