Teenage hair loss!!!?

ok so maybe i asked this question before but i wanna be a bit more specific.

i'm a 15 yr old female. And i've noticed that my hair has been falling out alot whenever i brush it. Like about 10 strands or something. Even when i only brush the sides 2-3 strands fall out. It wasn't like that before but it started at the start of february and it's winter here. So i asked my mom about it and she said it's normal to shed but i have never lost this much when brushing before. Sometimes it will just fall out. I went to see a dermatologist and he didn't seem to listen to me and said it's normal as well (i hate him!!). I'm not stressed or anything. My diet's pretty normal. It's just been like everyday except my hair just suddenly started shedding this year. Is it hormones or something? And i feel really envious of my little sister when she brushes her hair next to me and only 2 or 3 strands fall out. I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, up to my shoulders but i'm not sure if it will help.plz reply

I am sorry to break this to you, but you might have Alopecia Areata.

Here is some more information:

Since I'm not a doctor, I suggest you go to a different dermatologist since the one that you have doesn't seem very good.

If it turns out you do Alopecia, you can e-mail me anytime for support. Also, there is a really good book about a little girl who got Alopecia: Because of Anya, by Margaret Haddix.

It could be that your under alot of stress... That does cause hairloss. But It could be conditioners, Shampoos and such that you are allergic to that could be causing it. idk. You should see a hair doctor.

People shed at least 100 hairs a day. It's particularly normal at this time of year, when the air is cold and dry. Don't feel bad, I had the same reaction when I went to a dermatologist. A good hairdresser can give you strengthening treatments that will help improve the overall health and elasticity of your hair. So, give that a try.

Believe me, I've been there, it can be really stressful, having hair breakage.

Do you have acne? Weight mostly on your stomach? I don't know- hair loss in women is a sign of PCOS. As is losing hair and it starts like that. I started like that as a teen- just shedding everywhere and now I am starting to have male pattern baldness (thank goodness for women's rogaine) I actually do have PCOS and it took me about 10 years to figure it out and get a doctor to take me seriously.

You need not worry much about hair fall if its not unusually rampant. Its common that hair falls and new hair gets generated.

Its also true that hair fall takes place if you had fallen sick and you are recovering.

Hair fall also takes place if you are not able to absorb Zinc from food owing to digestive disorders and you are unable to understand the same.

therefore you may consult a doctor and take necessary help if needed.

well i think it is normal but maybe a hair cut will help or it could be that ur stressed bout somethin.....

Teenage hair loss!!!?

it's nothing to worry about. it's pretty normal even if it's happening more now than before. it may well be stressed. you don't have to feel particularly stressed to actually BE stressed. youre body may be under stress or it could be subconscious. your a teenager and teenagers go through a lot. the shampoo and conditioner suggestion was good. you may need to change those. try garnier. it's not so expensive, but if you don't want to spend that much, suave is cheaper. they are both good brands. herbal essences is also good. it could also be the hair products you may use such as hairspray, gels, mousse, etc. if you straighten your hair, you could have the kind of hair that reacts badly to that so just don't straighten it. also if you sprunch your hair those products are not really very good for your hair. it doesn't matter what the bottle says or what company it's from. the chemicals that make your hair sprunch aren't good for your hair. honestly, it sounds very normal though. i wouldn't worry about it.

i wouldn't say that you have Alopecia Areata. it sould be a bigger difference. i learned about that in class a while back and more hair will come out. usually it will just fall out on its own and you'll see clumps of hair on your clothes all the time. this does honestly sound like a typical thing. hair comes out on my brush too especially of it's tangled.

Teenage hair loss!!!?

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Teenage hair loss!!!?

Hi,

In my opinion, you're too young to take medication for hair loss. I'd try some home remedies, like the following:

* Make lettuce and spinach juice and mix them together. Wash your face with the mixture daily.

* Break one egg and apply on your hair for 1 hour, massage your hair a few times for better results.

* Pour olive oil on your head and massage it into your scalp to prevent more hair loss.

* Boil water in a pot and add rosemary leaves, mix and cook until you get a mixture. Wait for 30 minutes and apply on your hair.

* Massage Aloe Vera into your scalp wash it with lukewarm water.

* Mix honey and egg yolk and apply on your hair. Let it stand for 20-40 minutes and wash well with cold water so it won't stick.

* Use coconut milk instead of shampoo when washing your hair.

* Henna is very good for the hair, it makes it shine and also very good when losing hair. Apply henna on your hair, let it stand for a few minutes but not too long or your hair will turn red.

* Mix rosemary leaves with lemon, egg white, and olive oil. Apply on your hair for 20-40 minutes and wash with cold water.

* Smear honey on your scalp, let it stand for 20 minutes and wash with warm water. Be careful the honey might stick to your hair, use only with short hair.

Good luck
