Ten year old losing hair!!?

10 year old is losing quiet a large amount of hair when brushing. She has always had curly and kind of thin hair. However recently her hair is looking a lot more thinner and shorter. There does not be any hair on her pillow, only when brushing lots of strands of hair come on wid the comb. There is not any bald patches, it just looks thin. She is not stressed, but she sometimes doesnt eat very much meat, chicken or fish. Could this be the reason why? The local GP prescribed her with some vitamins, and told me to get her a blood test done. Could this be anything serious? It's gettin really quiet worrying and she has noticed how much hair she is losing. Please help, many thanks.

Ten year old losing hair!!?

yes it could be serious! she could be suffering from an eating disorder and when you are you loose your hair. If she has been loosing weight or is very thin thats the problem i know it soulds crazy but eating disorders can start at the age of 5. If it is talk to her it is terrible if she continues this way

Good luck it also could be genes if any1 in your family has bold hair and is young

Ten year old losing hair!!?

I have researched this question and now I learned something as well.

"Over time, an excess build-up [of DHT] in the follicle causes it to begin shrinking, which in turn alters the natural resting and growth phases of the hair. Some of the follicles eventually die, while others are rendered incapable of producing or maintaining healthy hair growth. The end result, is hair loss -- and a condition that is medically known as androgenic alopecia.
