Why do women always do that thing with their hands, brushing their hair?

They bring their hands up to the sides of their face near their hairline, and, using their middle finger, they make a backwads arcing motion with their hands.

It almost looks as if they're brushing hair out of their eyes but the weird part is that I've seen this done (constantly) even by women with the straightest hair, or even by women with very close-cut hair (like a guy's).

haha its nerves. I always played with my hair when talking to a cutie. haha i still do it with my boyfriend. i don't know why half the time i don't even realized i'm doing it until he pulls my hand aways from my face. also sometimes its cause my hair is in my face.

Some girls do it to flirt, some do it just b/c it's a habit. Girls with sometimes do it because they think their hair looks good, esp. ones with straight hair - it falls back perfectly into place! If they're doing it while they're talking to you, they could be fliriting. If not, it's just a habit, a quick-clean way to get your hair out of your face without messing it up.
