Are brushes good for hair?

Will brushes for long hair damage the hair in any way?

Stay away from plastic or synthetic bristles on brushes and cheap brushes because they can break your hair. Brushing really is NOT necessary for anyone unless it's a tangled mess in which you should use a De-Tangling spray and a wide tooth comb to untangle it (start from the bottom of your hair and go up). If you insist on brushing your hair though, buy a natural boar bristle brush. Much better for it! Especially with long hair.

Boar bristle brushes are the best to use on your hair. If you over brush or you brush too roughly yes it will cause damage. Over brushing will also cause split ends. When your hair is wet you should use a small amount of a leave in conditioner (infusium 23 is good) %26amp; comb through with a WIDE tooth comb. Never brush wet hair!! Once your hair is dry you can follow up with a nice gentle brushing to smooth the hair.

Brushes are not good for the hair, most people are mixed on the subject but over all it's not good. It's said that brushes give circulation to the scalp but you could simply message the scalp for that. Centuries ago when people washed hair around once a month or less they used to use brushes to brush out dandruff or lice, whatever it was that inhabited their hair. Now that washing the hair is much more frequent brushing is quite unnecessary. As for damaging of long hair, let's just say if the strong wind can damage long hair than so can brushing. Ever paid attention to all that hair that gets caught in your brush, yuck. Good luck!
