Why do women always do that thing with their hands, stroking their hair?

They bring their hands up to the sides of their face near their hairline, and sort of, gently stroke their hair back along the sides of their forehead.

It almost looks as if they're brushing hair out of their eyes but the weird part is that I've seen this done (constantly) even by women with the straightest hair, or even by women with very close-cut hair (like a guy's).

A lot of women seem to do it completely subconsciously.

Is it nerves? Flirting? Or maybe just a habit?

It can be a combination of all three, I guess it would depend on the woman. Some may do it out of nervousness, some may do it unconsciously as a grooming habit and some may do it flirting.

Well, mostly its to get the hair out of their faces and then a habit. I have longish hair and at one point I shaved it all off on an impulse and while it was still growing back, I constantly did dad because I felt like my hair was in my face or like it would be if it was long enough.

i dont know but i do that to keep my hair neat but sometimes i just like feeling my hair when its nice and smooth and everything

I think it's an anxiety thing...it relieves stress and it's probably not something they do consciously. There are a lot of variations on this. It can be very odd to watch.

If you will just sit back an watch a group of young ladies, you will find a list of "habits" that nearly all will do. The most popular I have seen is the "head flick", this involves a slight down movement then a jerk of the head as to move the hair without touching. Another is the head forward and then back to cause hair to fall back and down. The list goes on and......

Ya, I believe it's a little flirt and some pure habit plus, hey their women!!!!
