Curly frizzy afro hair help?

hiya,i am hoping for some help with my daughters hair.she is 2 1/2 and has afro hair, some of the curls are really springy and coil like while other bits are just wavy.the problem is it gets very knotty and as a result she doesn't like her hair being brushed.can anyone recommend any hair shampoo's or detangle sprays suitable for a child that really does work and leaves her hair managable and knot free.also which is the best type of brush to use as a afro comb just don't work.thanks.

I'm a big proponent of a product called "Frizz-ease"...applying to the hair soaking wet, and combing through with a wide comb ends first will take care of the frizz. After that, just leave it to dry naturally to take advantage of natural curl, or if that isn't an option, get the comb attachment for a blow dryer and blow straight. The product will keep it from curling back up or frizzing even in humidity. Well, not totally, but it's the best thing next to a chemical process which I wouldn't suggest for someone so young. You might want to ask a beautician at a salon that caters to an African American clientele; they are used to these problems and may suggest a process called a texturizer which is gentler than a relaxer.

Perhaps a brush is not the best tool. Try a wide toothed detangle comb. To comb this type of hair, you must not start at the roots because that will hurt. You must start combing at the bottom of the the hair and gradually work you way up to the roots. This method is best to detangle hair.

I don't have any specify product but find a shampoo and conditioner that specifically says it softens and detangle.

Just go to the beauty salon.Sometimes you can find someone there who can help you, or ask someone on your husband's side of the family.

I have curly hair also, i just use a lot of conditioner after a shower and it helps it stay softer.

Apply plenty of moisuriser to keep it soft and use a wide toothed comb.

Take her to a salon that specialises in afro american hair and they should give you plenty of advice.

Get yourself a Denman brush. It's available online or at some beauty supplies. Also only try to comb/brush it when it's wet or damp. This will help to get the brush through without tangles or hurting your daughter. Make sure to use a good moisturizer on her hair to keep it from drying out.
